I know I have been neglecting the blog. I'm sorry, but life has been super busy, and unfortunately for the blog's sake, sleep has won over sitting in front of the computer. Not to mention the fact that have been battling a sinus/ear infection, amongst other things. The Christmas cards are finally mailed, so I thought the next best thing to do would be to update the blog. Here it goes-
The last time I wrote was at Halloween, so I thought I'd just give you a little run through of the past month's highlights and events.
The school year continues to power along. We just finished the first quarter, and I was bogged down with report cards and parent conferences. To my advantage, the parent conferences were incredibly smooth- Thank you parents for being so cooperative and understanding! The hardest part of teaching is dealing with the parents, and thankfully, the parents in my classroom are pretty mellow (minus one dad who questions everything, and I mean EVERYTHING!) I absolutely adore my students. They are a quirky little crew, but I do love them! They are by far the best behaved class I have had in all of my 4 1/2 years of being in the classroom. I will miss them come June. Jerome has been busy at work too. The latest project he has been working on is "Rescue Me" on Fx. It has also become one of his favorite shows. For those of you who watch it, Jerome has been able to preview a few of the episodes for the new season, and he says it is "amazing". The show airs in January sometime. We're hoping to get an invite to the premier! This Friday is his company Christmas party. The gala is at Social Hollywood, in Hollywood of course. We will be staying the night at the Renaissance Hotel, located at Hollywood and Highland. It should be an exciting evening- the parties are known for fabulous locales, great food, drinks and dancing. We can't wait!
I decided to start sewing again. This was partly influenced by the amazing deal I got on a sewing machine at a Black Friday sale. My first creation was a pair of pajama pants for Jerome. Although the pattern claimed it would take only 1 hour to sew, it turned out to be quite a feat! This is due mainly to the fact that Jerome and I decided to alter the pattern, and shorten the waist, instead of reading the directions. This turned out to be a big problem because that "big" waist was actually needed to create the waist band. So much for taking matters in to my own hands. Lucky for me, my mom is a world-class seamstress, and she coached me over the phone on how to make my own waistband out of the remnants. Surprisingly they turned out great, and Jerome admits they are quite comfy! Yay me! Over winter break my mom is going to give me some "lessons" on sewing. I bought these amazing vintage patterns (circa 1957- my favorite year of fashion!), and I'm dying to sew up the dresses. Hopefully this will be accomplished during my 2 week winter break.

Jerome and I recently had my nieces Savannah (age 12) and Georgia (age 10) stay with us for the weekend. It was a big change from our usual little ones ( Jaden and Mo), but it was so much fun! We had fun hanging out with them, and look forward to them staying with us again soon!

The pups are doing well. Lola just got a fresh haircut, in an attempt to make her look less mangy. She is still scruffy, but cute as ever. We are excited about treating her to her first Christmas with us! The weekend after Thanksgiving, we met up with our friends Christi and Jaime for a hike at Will Rodgers State Park (in the Palisades, just north of Santa Monica) in L.A. Christi and Jaime have Lou's sister Brooklyn, so it was great to see her, and the let the pups play together. It's crazy how much they look alike! The park was beautiful and the hike was awesome! It's another reason I love L.A- so many little gems! I would have never even knew this park existed!

This past weekend, Jerome and I went to the Belmont Shore Christmas Parade with George, Vanessa and her parents. It was totally cute and fun in a cheesy, small town kind of way. It definitely got us in the Christmas spirit!

Tomorrow is the big holiday that we have all spent weeks (some people even spent months) preparing for. Now that the holiday presents are purchased and wrapped, the meal ingredients are ready for prep, and the stockings are filled with treats for our pets, Jerome and I just wanted to take a moment and wish all of our loved ones a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah! We hope your holiday is filled with love, laughter and joy.
