Open House

Recently we had our annual Open House night at my school, and I have to say it was most successful one to date! I had a huge turnout of students and families. Jerome's mom was able to come, which was wonderful because I don't usually get the pleasure of having any family make it! I also had a surprise visit from our district's Superintendent of Personnel, who was so impressed! He personally told me that he was beyond pleased at the good work I was doing and the atmosphere I was providing for my students. He also told me that he had heard a lot of amazing things about me and that I should know that my work is  highly appreciated! This was so nice to hear! Especially at a time when I am being displaced at my current school site due to low numbers of students. As of June 18, I will "classroomless". My Principal is very upset about this situation, and does not want to let me go, but due to my status as a non-tenured teacher, it is out of her control. When the numbers are low it is us temps who are the first to be cut, regardless of our performance. It is a messy situation full of politics, union standards and rules, but my Principal has assured me that she will do everything in her power to get me placed at another school. I am ever so grateful for her support, and I am hopeful that I will a new school to continue shaping and inspiring young minds. I truly LOVE my job, and I can't imagine not doing it! I will keep you updated as I find out more information.

On a more positive note, here are some pics of  my room at Open House. Enjoy!

Can't wait for next year....
